Paver Sealing FAQ
Find quick answers to the most common questions about paver sealing, cleaning, and restoration so you know what to expect before, during, and after your project
Why should I seal my pavers?
Sealing protects your pavers from stains, fading, weeds, and surface wear, helping them last longer and keep their color looking rich and clean.
How often should pavers be cleaned and sealed?
Most driveways and patios should be professionally cleaned and re‑sealed every 2–3 years, depending on traffic, weather, and the type of sealer used.
How long does the paver sealing process take?
A typical project takes 1–2 days, including deep cleaning, drying time, re‑sanding the joints, and applying the sealer.
How long does paver sealer last?
Quality sealers usually protect your surface for about 2–3 years, though premium products and lighter use can extend that to around 3–5 years.
Will sealing my pavers make them slippery?
When the correct sealer is used for your surface, it should not make the pavers slippery, and non‑slip additives can be used in pool or wet areas.
Can you fix a bad paver sealing job?
Yes. A failed sealer can be stripped off, the surface cleaned and repaired, and then re‑sealed correctly with a breathable, high‑quality product.
What is paver restoration?
Paver restoration removes old or failing sealer, treats stains or whitening, repairs problem areas, and then re‑sands and re‑seals the surface properly.
Do new pavers need to be sealed right away?
It’s best to wait a short period after installation so the pavers and joints stabilize, then clean and seal them to lock in color and protect the surface.
